About Rod

Rod Danes, for whom Rod’s Project is named, had an exceptional love for agriculture and the Future Farmers of America chapter at East Clinton High School. Rod had a kind and caring spirit, willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He would often be the first to arrive for any school project he was involved in and never sought recognition for his efforts.

On a windy March night in 1984 when Rod was only 15, his life and the lives of his mother Karen and father Don, was tragically cut short when two men found their way the Danes’ home and murdered them. One of Rod’s final acts of devotion to his family was to hide his little sister in a closet to save her life.

Rod’s Project works to preserve the memory of the Danes family and the spirit of devotion Rod had for his school, family and community by focusing on the current students of East Clinton High School who also have a passion to continue agriculture education. It is a privilege for us involved with Rod’s Project to continue to help students in his honor.
